We are delighted to share that more than 110 CDAC tutors participated in our annual Tutors' Learning Fiesta, held on 24 June 2023. The theme of this year’s learning fiesta is "Recharge. Reflect. Refocus". The learning fiesta provides a valuable platform for tutors to gather and acquire teaching and learning strategies with a focus on strengthening tutor-student relationships and motivating our learners.
In alignment with the theme ‘Recharge’, we organized a session with light stretching activities for all our tutors. By engaging in stretching exercises, our tutors managed to experience a degree of physical relaxation and improved circulation, as well as learning core techniques to help them maintain a stronger mind-body connection.
At the Learning Fiesta, we conducted consecutive concurrent sessions that revolved around three main components, each aimed at empowering our tutors and enhancing their teaching practice. Here's a glimpse of what we covered:
💡 Why we learn and teach: We delved into the motivations and principles behind teaching and learning. Tutors gained a deeper understanding of their roles as educators and the impact they have on their students' lives and reflected meaningfully on their teaching philosophy and approach.
💡 How we learn and teach: We explored various pedagogical approaches and teaching methodologies. Tutors learned and discussed different techniques to engage students, create a positive learning environment, and meet diverse learning needs. Workshops on differentiated instruction, cooperative learning, play-based learning, educational technology, and other innovative teaching practices were conducted.
💡 What we learn and teach: Tutors had the opportunity to delve into the specific subjects they teach and explore effective instructional strategies for those subjects. This component included subject-specific workshops and the sharing of best IT practices.
The Learning Fiesta aims to provide tutors with a well-rounded professional development experience - empowering them with a deeper understanding of their teaching practice, enhancing their instructional skills, and ultimately improving student learning outcomes. Together, we aim to make a significant difference in the lives of our students!
